Such a symbiotic relationship between jazz and classical music, their mutual interweaving, such a kaleidoscope of hues, rhythms and motives, fine symphonic instrumentation, emotions marked by the composer’s personality probably cannot be found in Polish and foreign attempts of that kind.
With his new album, “Katharsis”, Leszek Kulakowski confirms his position of one of the most intelligent and creative Polish jazz artsits. His music is outstanding because of its originality in which the jazz pulse, phrasing and improvisations go together with fascinations with romanticism as well as very progressive, contemporary means of expression and the climate typical of contemporary concert music.
I play at concerts, I write and arrange music, I prepare people to perform, record it etc. I'm gathering experiences to speak my own voice one day. I dream about a comfortable situation of creating art. (Leszek Mozdzer)
LOSKOT is one of the most important groups in Poland. Its history is strongly connected with the beginning of the phenomenon of "yass scene" which is a socio-musical movement founded in the beginning of the 90-ties in Gdansk. In the beginning the main aim of yass artists was to oppose the rigid monopole of jazz music that existed then in Poland. After the years of transformations, the ideological aim of yass artists evolved to artistic values and LOSKOT became one of the main pillars of the transformation.

"Miniatures" is beautiful, very tasty album. Doubless it's something more, then improvised music. Many common has with contemporary music. Anyway two songs are arrangemant compositions of Jan Krenz and Artur Malawski. There's in this music outsized air and space. Jorgensmann Clarinet has a exellent sound , brothers play very careful and it is proper to advice.
A mature statement by a still-young Polish band that already has 15 years of playing experience behind it. All group members shine here, with Marcin Wasilewski again impressive as one of the most outstanding jazz pianists of his generation. This impressive album, coupled with the tour dates, will catapult this group to the spotlight of the jazz community.
The Polish kickass rhythm section of bassist Marcin and drummer Bartlomiej Oles + multi-talented horn player Adam Pieronczyk = the best what happens in Polish Jazz.
Suite for Trio + recorded with ean Luc-Cappozzo possesses a haunting and charming quality that has matured like a good wine to become- with passing of time - richer in taste and flavour.
The music so difficult to be labeled, to be named. World music. Jazz. Total music. We invite you to listen to it! It works. It does have an impact. As always. As usually...
Pawel Kaczmarczyk represents the hope for a return of the times of the likes of Komeda and Trzaskowski, that it will once again be said - Poland is alive with jazz. (Marek Romanski, Hi-Fi)
Pink Freud is an improvising trio. Its music is fresh and modern; inspired by jazz, rock, folk, jungle, drum'n'bass etc. Pink Freud demands audience's sensitivity and concentration. Musicians play subtle tunes fully aware of their music.
In his decision to go for the double bass, Lemanczyk followed the voice of his soul. You can hear it in each and every note of "Follow the Soul". His performance is characterized by a strong and resolute attack on the string, a deep and full tone, precision of articulation, melodic invention. (Krzysztof Kuczkowski)
Revelations seldom happen and if they occur they usually get lost in the multitude of loudly advertised events. Only few realize consciously their presence, but the only thing they can do is to bring people's attention to the phenomenon. Piotr Wojtasik is a genuine revelation of Polish jazz. No doubt about this. Hope

"Polish Funk" contains tunes by Polish artists only. Their inspirations were obvious, however they went far beyond recreating and mimicking western music - they enhanced it by adding a little bid of Slavic flavor.
