Ecstasy Project Ecstasy Project
Bydgoszcz is a place of eruption of a particular innovative energy, mainly in relation to the native tradition. It is similar in this case, although we deal here with a quite clear inspiration from the jazz-rock music of the 70's (in particular from the early groups such as Jack deJohnette, Weather Report, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra...)

Ecstasy Project - Europae Ecstasy Project - Europae
Rafal Gorzycki - Ecstasy Project leader, looks at music through its twentieth-century struggle. Starting with improvisation and jazz he turns his attention towards the experiences of the European chamber music of the previous century. This is where he tries to find substantial solutions for his musical experiments. The music of mature Europe digested in the atonality, neo-Romanticism and minimalist experiments seems to be great support in his poetic excursions towards Europe Impossible, Europe with no Chaos, Europe of philosophers, artists and craftsmen. And this is this vision that makes him study the rich heritage of the last century avant-gard. With his band, whose members come from the cultures of classical music, yet again does he discourse about the beauty and lyricism devoid of the pressure of the noisy commerciality. Ecstasy Project tells us how beautiful and wise Europe is with its experience. Let us listen, although so difficult it is sometimes to believe in this beauty...(Zbigniew Zielinski)

ECSTASY PROJECT TRIO Realium ECSTASY PROJECT TRIO Realium
...ambient, new age whatever, it has much beauty. Maybe a bit too much violin, but the drumming percussion in fantastic, very pretty, and the bass is great, lots of atmosphere, very visual, and it has the special Polish magic that draws me in. If people could hear this, they would like it. There is tons of stuff like this out there on the market with crappy drum machines and overdone bass and effects, but this is the real thing. I think it is a winner. Its different, but very nice, not jazz, but something that transcends the jazz genre...

Enterout Trio (Piotr Melech / Adam Wróblewski / Sebastian Grzesiak) - Pink Ivory Enterout Trio (Piotr Melech / Adam Wróblewski / Sebastian Grzesiak) - Pink Ivory
The Enterout Trio was established in 2007 in Poznan, following the initiative of the clarinetist Piotr Melech, the percussionist Sebastian Grzesiak and the cellist Adam Wróblewski. Each member of the Trio has different musical experience which contributes to the eclectic character of their music. Sebastian Grzesiak and Piotr Melech began their collaboration in the Netherlands taking inspiration from Dutch avant-garde musicians. In Poznan they were joined by Adam Wróblewski, a classical cellist. From the beginning, the Trio's joint explorations were based on improvisation. Elements of jazz, modern and ethnical music combined with experimenting with sound result in an unconventional albeit consistent whole.

Eugene Chadbourne, Andrea Centazzo - German Horse
2CDs box-set Eugene Chadbourne, Andrea Centazzo - German Horse
2CDs box-set

...I went and practiced guitar on the Tiber. A German whore came on to me. I had been drinking wine, beer and champagne and playing weird electric guitar solos all night. Luckily an old man that looked like Raymond Massey trying to be Boris Karloff in the film of Arsenic and Old Lace stole her away from me... (excerpt from album's liner notes by Eugene Chadbourne)

Evan Parker, Alvin Curran, Andrea Centazzo
IN REAL TIME Evan Parker, Alvin Curran, Andrea Centazzo
IN REAL TIME

It was a magic evening. Not only did the trio burst with a creative energy that was homogeneous and interactive, but the acoustics, usually inadequate, of the half-empty sports pavilion with a capacity of 10,000 people, gave the music an ethereal transparency and crystalline purity that the recording captured and the CD newly presents in all its singular beauty.

Gebhard Ullmann - Basement Research Live in Münster Gebhard Ullmann - Basement Research Live in Münster
few improvising artists can boast the stream of creative ideas that seem to bubble from gebhard ullmann. ullmann focuses on the fundamentals of improvised jazz: melody, sound, syncopation and technical excellence, but what makes his writing and playing so successful is his seemingly never-ending innovative nature: without grasping for neoteric straws, ullmann's performances are grounded in the past but plunge forward deliberately toward modernity. ullmann leaves the strong mark of a disciplined sculptor of sound, who speaks his own compelling language

Grzegorz Karnas
Ballady na koniec swiata
ballads for the end of the world Grzegorz Karnas
Ballady na koniec swiata
ballads for the end of the world

Karnas produced this CD. The instrumentation of the accompanying group is distinctive - although actually, it's not so much an accompanying group as it is musicians who, collectively, enable Karnas to better express his thoughts. Tenor sax, cello, synthesized sounds and percussion instruments - that's all...

Grzegorz Karnas
Sny (the Dreams of the Ninth Floor) Grzegorz Karnas
Sny (the Dreams of the Ninth Floor)

Karnas' singing – regardless of whether it's lyrics, syllabics or scat – is never for show; it's always music. Vocalists are probably a bit more susceptible to the lure of “shining” at all costs than are other instrumentalists. Karnas doesn't care about shining. He wants to make music. This is audible in every composition, in every measure he sings.(Robert Buczek, Jazz Forum)

Guido Mazzon - As the Crow Flies Guido Mazzon - As the Crow Flies
I love composing improvised music and improvising composed music - improvising is something you can't improvise - the main thing is to evaluate the urgency of saying something as it is being said - the only difference between composition and improvisation is the sense of time. Sometimes I like to put more metaphysics in music, sometimes more music in metaphysics. Each tune "as the crow flies". (G.Mazzon )

4CDs Box-Set

The '70s in Italy (and Europe, in general) were times of extreme political tension charged with subversion, terrorism and bombings. In this climate of heightened emotions, fear and hope there came about an era of music of the left, dominated by the avant-garde which was associated with the cultural revolution taking place. Artists would show their commitment to the cause both by keeping up with current events in the world, and by translating these facts into their work, in an ever closer linking between thought and action: for the songwriters it was their lyrics, for instrumentalists through avant-garde composition or jazz...

Guido Mazzon Sextet featuring Paul Rutherford - Flights of Fancy Guido Mazzon Sextet featuring Paul Rutherford - Flights of Fancy
To compose or to play is like writing on a "tabula rasa" (clean slate) where I draw sounds, emotions and create intimate relationships with my partners. To play music together is to live common experience; to express emotions is not necessarily to utter high concepts but simply to tell the stories. (Guido Mazzon)
